CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO.21-108 AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF TOWARD ZERO DEATHS (TZD) ENFORCEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes recognizes the importance of the safe and efficient movement of traffic in and through the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes Public Safety Department works to improve the safe and efficient movement of traffic through education and enforcement; and WHEREAS, in recognition of adverse impact on lives and property resulting from impaired or negligent driving and the non-use of seat belts, the State of Minnesota, Minnesota Department of Public Safety, and the Officer of Traffic Safety, have developed the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Enforcement Program to fund traffic safety education and enforcement; and WHEREAS, the County of Anoka has proposed participation in the education and enforcement of the TZD Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes, at the request of Anoka County, shall serve as the fiscal agent and grant administrator for the TZD Program for a three-year period ending in 2024. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes, Minnesota: That the City Council authorizes the Lino Lakes Public Safety Director to execute and administer a Toward Zero Deaths grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for traffic safety enforcement projects effective October 1, 2021 through September 30th, 2022. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 1 lth day of October, 2021 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Councilmember Stoesz and was duly seconded by Councilmember Lyden and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof.
