CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO.21-108 <br />AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF TOWARD ZERO DEATHS (TZD) <br />ENFORCEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes recognizes the importance of the safe and efficient <br />movement of traffic in and through the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes Public Safety Department works to improve the safe and <br />efficient movement of traffic through education and enforcement; and <br />WHEREAS, in recognition of adverse impact on lives and property resulting from impaired or <br />negligent driving and the non-use of seat belts, the State of Minnesota, Minnesota Department of <br />Public Safety, and the Officer of Traffic Safety, have developed the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) <br />Enforcement Program to fund traffic safety education and enforcement; and <br />WHEREAS, the County of Anoka has proposed participation in the education and enforcement <br />of the TZD Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes, at the request of Anoka County, shall serve as the fiscal <br />agent and grant administrator for the TZD Program for a three-year period ending in 2024. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes, <br />Minnesota: <br />That the City Council authorizes the Lino Lakes Public Safety Director to execute and administer <br />a Toward Zero Deaths grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office <br />of Traffic Safety, for traffic safety enforcement projects effective October 1, 2021 through <br />September 30th, 2022. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 1 lth day of October, 2021 <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Councilmember <br />and was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />The following voted against same: <br />Rob Rafferty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Julianne Bartell, City Clerk <br />
