CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues, Deputy Clerk City <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: June 7, 2021 <br />Consider Approval of a Special Event Permit for the <br />National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Bike MS 159. <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Jamie Blood of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has submitted a Special Event Permit <br />for a Bike MS 150 to raise funds for the Society. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Ms. Blood has submitted an application for a one-day bike ride event with a 23 mile and a 75 <br />mile bike route with the start and finish of the event at the National Sports Center in Blaine. <br /> <br />The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has submitted a certificate of liability insurance to <br />cover the above event and on file in the office of the deputy clerk. The proper fees have been <br />paid for this permit. <br /> <br />The Public Safety Department has reviewed the application and has been working with the <br />event planner, Anoka County Highway Department as well as the city engineer. MS 150 has <br />agreed to pay for overtime costs associated with Public Safety traffic control. <br />At this time, staff is still working through logistics and will provide an update at the council <br />meeting on Monday, June 7. <br />The understanding is that the applicant will continue to follow their instructions on safety. <br />The applicant must have in place all necessary permissions for use of property involved in <br />the event if private. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />Route Map to Follow on Monday
