See the Strategic Overview section of this Report for discussion of the <br />underlying strategy. <br /> Plan for future growth in City and regional population <br /> Plan for future program, membership, and use growth <br /> Address current needs identified <br />o Court Space <br />o Community function and meeting space <br /> Provide support for differentiating themes for the Recreation and Community Center <br />o Outdoor Sports and Activities <br />o Sport Center (court complex) <br /> <br />The expansion of the Outdoor Sports and Activities and the Sport Center lend themselves to <br />partnership development, outside investment, and outside program providers. <br /> <br />Outdoor Sport Center <br />The existing facility has a small playground attached to the building. Space exists on the City <br />owned site to not only support expansion of the building but to provide for the utilization of <br />additional space to create outdoor sport activities that are unique to the City and the area. These can <br />also link to classes and activities inside the current and future Rec and Community Center. An <br />“Outdoor Sports Center” can include the following: <br /> Expanded child and youth playground <br /> Outdoor fitness course <br /> Ropes course <br /> Trail link to nearby park areas <br /> Dog Park <br /> <br />The Outdoor theme can be connected to indoor activities that teach and support outdoor sport and <br />lifestyle activities, such as: <br /> Kayak, Paddleboard classes in the lap pool <br /> Climbing Wall/Gym included in expansion of facility <br /> Outdoor recreation activities built into year round youth camps and community classes <br /> <br />The Outdoor Sport and Activity theme can be a cost effective way to enhance the differentiating <br />elements of the Lino Lakes Recreation and Community Center as well as enhancing the financial <br />sustainability of the Center and creating unique programming for the City and its residents. <br /> <br />The cost projections vary greatly for each potential component of these outdoor facilities, <br />depending on design and elements. Costs can be in the $50,000 to $150,000 for outdoor fitness <br />courses and the compact ropes courses can range from $100,000 and up much higher. The Ropes <br />Course could link to the climbing wall partner linked to the Sports Center. <br />
