CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3E <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: June 28, 2021 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Police Officer <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Yecheng “Eric” Heu to a vacant Police <br />Officer position in the Public Safety Department. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />There are currently two vacant Police Officer positions within the Public Safety Department. At <br />this time, staff has completed a recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of Eric Heu for the position. <br /> <br />Eric Heu has a degree in Law Enforcement and meets all POST mandated requirements to be a <br />Police Officer in the State. <br /> <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $35.85, which is the Starting Step of the union wage schedule. <br />The wage schedule has six steps. <br /> <br />With the Council’s approval, Eric Heu would start in the position of Police Officer on July 5, <br />2021. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the appointment of Yecheng Eric Heu for the Police Officer position. <br /> <br /> <br />
