<br />WS – Item 1 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 1 <br /> <br /> <br />Date: July 26, 2021 <br /> <br />To: City Council <br /> <br />From: Sarah Cotton, City Administrator <br /> <br />Re: Public Works Facility <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City Council and staff have been discussing the need for the eventual replacement of <br />the Public Works Facility (built in 1971) since an updated Public Works Site Analysis <br />and Space Needs Study was completed by CNH Architects in April of 2017. The City <br />Council expressed concerns with the scope and costs of a new public works facility <br />outlined in the CNH Study and retained Oertel Architects to reevaluate needs and prepare <br />options that were more cost effective. In 2019, the City Council reviewed concept plans <br />for Phase I of a public works facility, including cost estimates, and began preliminary <br />discussions regarding project financing. <br /> <br />Several times during the last few months, the Council has discussed setting up a tour of <br />the Public Works Facility. <br /> <br />Staff is seeking Council input on scheduling a tour of the facility and next steps regarding <br />planning for the eventual replacement of the facility. <br /> <br />Requested Council Direction <br /> <br />1.
