CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: July 26, 2021 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Police Officer <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Samantha Bergeron to a vacant Police <br />Officer position in the Public Safety Department. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />There are currently two vacant Police Officer positions within the Public Safety Department. At <br />this time, staff has provided a conditional offer, and is recommending the approval of Samantha <br />Bergeron for the position. <br /> <br />Samantha Bergeron is currently employed as a part-time CSO for the City of Lino Lakes. Sam <br />graduated from Metro State with Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement. She will have met all <br />POST mandates by July 26, 2021. <br /> <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $35.85, which is the Starting Step of the union wage schedule. <br />The wage schedule has six steps. <br /> <br />With the Council’s approval, Samantha Bergeron would start in the position of Police Officer <br />on August 2, 2021. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the appointment of Samantha Bergeron for the Police Officer position. <br /> <br /> <br />
