personnel, and equipment within the fire station and at times may act as an Incident Commander <br />or Division Officer. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES <br />1. Responds to emergency and non-emergency incidents as a Fire Officer. <br />2. Directs and supervises firefighters of a fire company. <br />3. Directs and supervises firefighters of a company at the scene of an emergency and in <br />routine duties, on and off the scene. <br />4. Completes local and state fire reports, first reports of injury, and other documents as <br />outlined in standing operating procedures. <br />5. Assists in maintaining fire department equipment and apparatus. <br />6. Assumes the role of incident commander in the absence of chief officers. <br />7. Performs a variety of routine and complex technical work in building, fire and zoning <br />inspection work to ensure that the State Fire Code and other related codes and standards <br />are effectively and equitably administered and enforced throughout the City. <br />8. Enforces State Fire Code and other codes as adopted by the City of Lino Lakes and issues <br />citations for code violations. <br />9. Reviews building plans to assure compliance with fire codes; prepares fire response <br />preplans of commercial and institutional buildings. <br />10. Performs on-site inspections of buildings and properties to ensure compliance with the <br />fire, property maintenance and zoning codes adopted by the City of Lino Lakes. <br />11. Explains, interprets, and provides guidance regarding all applicable codes within the area <br />of responsibility to architects, engineers, contractors, developers, city staff and other <br />interested parties. <br />12. Assists in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues, either personally, by <br />telephone or in writing. <br />13. Maintains and generates all necessary records of inspection activity, reports and related <br />information; attends meetings and presents information as directed. <br />14. Assists with the administration of the permitting function, including application <br />processing, plan review, fee assessment and collection, and permit issuance. <br />15. Builds team morale and provides first stage discipline and direction to firefighters as <br />outlined in Public Safety Department policies. <br />16. Assists with fire prevention efforts, attends meetings and events. <br />17. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. <br /> <br />50
