7 <br />Greenway (Natural Open Space) System <br />Natural Resource Protected Area <br />Generally consists of water bodies and land areas that have some level of protection under current regulatory ordinances and controls. Specific areas included: <br />-Designated lakes and water bodies <br />-Park land (regional and local parks) <br />-Wetland systems <br />-Relevant plant communities listed on the County Biological Survey <br />Natural Resource Conservation Area <br />Consists of largely upland areas as defined under various natural vegetative cover or soil types. Specific areas included: <br />-Unique banded soils areas that support rare species <br />-Blanding turtle breeding site and corridor <br />-Oak forest, aspen, maple-basswood, tamarack swamp, and lowland forest areas that are significant natural resource areas <br />-Floodplain areas <br />-Previously restored natural areas <br />-Select County ditches or streams <br />Natural Resource Enhancement Corridors <br />Consists of areas that fill gaps in the greenway system and/or provide a corridor for the greenway-based trails <br />These areas <br />are not <br />inherently <br />protected !
