<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6E <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: March 9, 2020 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 20-14, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract, Sanitary Sewer to Water Tower No. 3 <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization to accept quotes and award the construction contract for the <br />sanitary sewer to Water Tower No. 3. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The work includes extending sanitary sewer from the Fire Station No. 2 site to the Water Tower <br />No. 3 site. Construction of this project is to occur with the Water Tower No. 3 improvement <br />project. The Water Tower No. 3 operations include a chlorine residual discharge, small amount, <br />which Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will not allow to be discharged into an onsite <br />seepage pit. The MDH requires the reagents be discharged into the City’s sanitary sewer <br />collection system. <br /> <br />Quotes for the project were received on February 27th, 2020. The quotes received are as <br />follows: <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL QUOTE <br />C.W. Houle, Inc. of Shoreview, Minnesota, in the amount of <br />$77,760.00. The project is funded through the City’s trunk utility fund. The completion date for <br />this project is September 4, 2020. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 20-14 accepting quotes and awarding a construction <br />contract for the sanitary sewer to Water Tower No. 3, in the amount of $77,760.00 to C.W. <br />Houle, Inc. <br />
