<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5B <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: May 26 , 2020 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 20-48, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract, 12th Avenue Trail Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization to accept quotes and award the construction contract for the <br />12th Avenue Trail Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City received resident requests to construct a trail along 12th Avenue. The Council directed <br />staff to prepare a preliminary design and cost estimates. The trail was discussed at City Council <br />work sessions throughout 2019 and as a result the City Council budgeted for this project within <br />their 2020 budget. Staff has requested quotes for the construction of the 12th Avenue Trail <br />project. <br /> <br />The 12th Avenue Trail Project includes construction of a new trail between White Oak Road and <br />the existing trail head approximately 720 feet south of White Oak Road, pedestrian ramp <br />improvements, and ditch grading and culvert repairs to facilitate drainage in the project area. A <br />location map is enclosed. The project is funded through the park and trail improvement fund in <br />the amount of $125,000 and through state aid in the amount of $25,000. <br /> <br />Quotes for the project were received on May 19th, 2020. <br /> <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL QUOTE <br />Allied Blacktop Co. The low bid was submitted by <br />Bituminous Roadways Inc. of Mendota Heights, MN in the amount of $150,703.30.
