<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: June 8, 2020 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 20-49, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract, 2020 Trail Maintenance Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization to accept quotes and award the construction contract for the <br />2020 Trail Maintenance Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The 2020 Trail Maintenance Project includes: <br /> <br />West Shadow Lake Drive - Trail Maintenance <br />Maintenance of the trail that connects to West Shadow Lake Drive between River Birch <br />Place and White Owl Drive includes milling and repaving the trail, root cutting along <br />portions of the trail, and repairing existing culverts to improve drainage. A location map <br />is enclosed. Funding for the project is from the general fund, park budget, in the amount <br />of $40,000.00 and park and trail improvement budget in the amount of $30,000.00. <br /> <br />Quotes for the project were received on May 28th, 2020. <br /> <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL QUOTE <br />Allied Blacktop Co. $59,898.55 <br />Arcade Asphalt, Inc. Did Not Quote <br />Bituminous Roadways Inc. $64,911.50 <br />Muellner Blacktop, Inc. Did Not Quote <br /> <br />The engineers estimate for the project was $62,800. The low bid was submitted by Allied <br />Blacktop Co. of Maple Grove, Minnesota, in the amount of $59,898.55. Allied Blacktop Co. <br />has adequately completed numerous project in the City of Lino Lakes. The completion date for <br />this project is September 30th, 2020. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 20-49 accepting quotes and awarding a <br />construction contract for the 2020 Trail Maintenance Project, in the amount of $59,898.55 to <br />Allied Blacktop, Co.
