Form B-3 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR PERSONAL SERVICE CHANGES <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Department: <br /> <br />Public Services <br />Supervisor: <br /> <br />Rick DeGardner <br />Position Title: <br />Recreation Coordinator - .60 FTE <br />Budget Impact: $47,647 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Justification for change: <br /> <br />In April, 2020, the Recreation Supervisor and Office Specialist positions were eliminated due to <br />the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, all Spring, Summer, and Fall Recreation Department <br />programs, activities, and services were canceled. <br /> <br />During the July 2020 City Council work session, the City Council indicated the desire to continue <br />to provide some level of recreation programs, activities, and services in 2021. <br /> <br />Staff is proposing the creation of a Recreation Coordinator position. This position would allow <br />the Recreation Department to provide: <br /> Special events including Winter Festival, Family Corn Roast, Spring Fling, Gobbler <br />Games, Secret Holiday Shop, Little Goblins Party, Snow Day, and Rockin’ In The Park <br /> Blue Heron Days events <br /> Limited youth instructional programs including T-Ball and skating classes <br /> Senior Programs including Book Club and Trips <br /> Staff warming houses <br /> <br />The Public Services Department will need to explore the feasibility of continuing previously <br />offered Recreation programs including summer playgrounds, pre-school playtime, art camps, <br />dodgeball camp, flag football, and fall soccer. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />102
