Current salary: <br />-$10.00/hr for Election Judge position; <br />-$11.00/hr for Head Election Judge position <br />Considerations in increasing Election Judge salary: <br />-Last increase was 2015; <br />-The Minnesota state minimum wage is $10.00/hr; <br />-For cities polled in Anoka County, the average rate of pay is $11.50/hr and $12.75/hr); some <br />cities pay a higher wage to temporary pre-election workers (average $15/hr); <br />-Important positions – recognize with adequate salary <br />-Positions can be difficult to fill because of public contact element and current virus situation; <br />Proposed Increase: <br />Election Judge Position Increase from $10.00/hr to $12.00/hr (20% increase) <br />Head Election Judge Position Increase from $11.00/hr to $14.00/hr* (27% increase) <br />*AB pre-election workers would receive election judge salary of $12.00/hr <br />Cost Consideration: <br />Municipal (Odd Year) Election – <br />General Only - $8,700 (average of 2017 & 2019) <br />23.5% increase = $2,045 (annually) <br />County/State/National (Even Year) Election - <br />Primary and General - Statewide or Presidential Election - $22,725 (average of 2016, 2018) <br />23.5% increase = $5,340 (annually) <br />If approved, increased cost in 2020 should be covered by Elections CARES Act grant
