WS – Item 5 WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT Work Session Item No. 5 Date: September 8, 2020 To: City Council From: Diane Hankee, PE City Engineer Re: CR J (Ash Street) and CSAH 49 (Hodgson Road) Trunk Utility Project Background The City Council authorized the preparation of plans and specifications for the CR J and CSAH 49 (Hodgson Rd) Trunk Utility Project on March 26, 2018. The purpose of the improvement is to provide sanitary sewer and water service to approximately 60 acres of property surrounding the CR J and CSAH 49 intersection and to strengthen the City’s water pressure in this area of the City. The sewer and water improvements are in conformance with the City’s Comprehensive Utility Plans. The project includes a sanitary sewer lift station, forcemain, and re-routing the existing sewer flow of 12 Lino Lake’s properties that are currently serviced by Shoreview. The project also includes a trunk water loop along the east side of Hodgson from 6074 Hodgson Road north to Linda Lane. The water loop will eventually continue through the proposed Lyngblomsten site to Woodridge Lane and will provide improved water pressure in this area. The City purchased an easement from 255 Ash Street in 2019 to extend utilities to Woodridge Lane. The developer of the Lyngblomsten project purchased 275 Ash Street where the utilities will also extend through. WSB has completed the construction plans and specifications. As the Lyngblomsten project moves forward, staff will concurrently present the CR J and CSAH 49 (Hodgson Rd) Trunk Utility Project for bid. The total estimated construction cost including a 5% contingency is: DESCRIPTION ESTIMATED AMOUNT SCHEDULE A. - SURFACE IMPROVEMENTS $88,494.00 SCHEDULE B. - SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS $532,047.60 SCHEDULE C. - WATERMAIN IMPROVEMENTS $287,647.50 TOTAL CONSTRUCTION $908,189.10 Funding for the CR J and CSAH 49 (Hodgson Rd) Trunk Utility Project is through the Trunk Area and Unit fund.
