CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5B <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner Director <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: December 14, 2020 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Approval of Resolution No. 20-150, Authorize the <br />Preparation of Plans and Specs, Hard Court Facility at Birch <br />Street and Centerville Road, Rick DeGardner <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the <br />development of four pickleball courts and two tennis courts at Birch Street and Centerville <br />Road (concept plan attached). <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City Council has been considering constructing hard courts on the property adjacent to Fire <br />Station #2 since 2018. <br /> <br />The City Council previously designated $375,000 of General Fund Balance Reserves via <br />Resolution 18-175. In addition, staff is recommending designating the Dedicated Parks <br />Funding from Nadeau Acres in the amount of $107,100. <br /> <br />Staff is confident we can coordinate efforts with WSB Engineering and value engineer the <br />necessary site work, four pickleball courts, two tennis courts, and parking lot within the <br />designated funding sources. <br /> <br />The estimated schedule for the project: <br /> <br />Authorize Preparation of Plans and Specifications December 14, 2020 <br />Approve Plans and Specifications, Authorize Ad for Bids March 8, 2021 <br />City Opens Bids April 7, 2021 <br />City Council Awards Contract April 12, 2021 <br />Construction Begins April-May, 2021 <br />Final Completion July, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 20-150. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
