Lino Lakes Public Safety

Police Division

Memorandum

TO: Chief Swenson
FROM: Sgt. Christensen
DATE: 11-16-2020
RE: K9 donation

Chief Swenson,
As you are aware, Officer Mobraten has an Instagram page for her K9 partner Argos. Officer Mobraten
was recently contacted by one of their Instagram followers about providing a donation to the K9
program. This individual, Kristy Monroe, has provided similar donations, including ballistic K9 vests, to
other K9 programs throughout the country. Because K9 Argos already has a ballistic vest, she has
expressed a desire to donate a new 15 foot tracking lead for Officer Mobraten and Argos as she is a big
supporter of law enforcement. This donation is valued at $70.00
Because of the wide variety of tasks Argos is trained to do, it requires a lot of different equipment
including multiple collars and leashes/leads. Officer Mobraten stated the tracking lead she currently has
is starting to get worn and would need to be replaced soon, so this donation would be very helpful. This
tracking lead is a special long leash that is used when the K9 team is tracking and is generally much
longer than a normal dog leash and helps the handler to properly control the dog.
Officer Mobraten is seeking approval to accept this donation. Below are a couple pictures of what a
typical police K9 lead looks like.
