MEETING DATE: December 13, 2021 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 21-156, Authorize the Preparation of <br />Plans and Specs, 2022 I35E Pipe Crossing Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the 2022 I35E <br />Pipe Crossing Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The 2022 I35E Pipe Crossing Project is the second phase of the NE Drainage Improvements as <br />outlined in the Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan. The first phase was the <br />construction of the Peltier Lake outlet. This second phase project includes constructing a <br />stormwater conveyance system under I35E to the east side of the freeway, north of Main Street. <br />The pipe system will tie into the Watermark Development systems. <br /> <br />WSB & Associates has submitted a proposal to complete the plans and specifications, and provide <br />bid documents for the 2022 I35E Pipe Crossing Project in the amount of $31,600.00. <br /> <br />The estimated total project cost is $750,000.00. The project is funded through the City’s Surface <br />Water Management Fund. <br /> <br />The project schedule: <br /> <br />Authorize Preparation of Plans and Specifications December 13, 2021 <br />Order Improvement, Approve Plans and Specs, Authorize Ad for Bids February 14, 2022 <br />City Opens Bids March 22, 2022 <br />City Council Awards Contract March 28, 2022 <br />Construction Begins May, 2022 <br />Final Completion October, 2022 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 21-156, Authorizing the Preparation of Plans <br />and Specifications, 2022 I35E Pipe Crossing Project.
