CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> RESOLUTION NO.21-152 <br /> ACCEPTING MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES <br /> 2021 PREPARING FOR EMERALD ASH BORER GRANT AWARD <br /> WHEREAS,emerald ash borer, a non-native beetle that kills ash trees,was first confirmed in <br /> Lino Lakes in 2017; and <br /> WHEREAS, incidents of infestation and mortality of ash trees have increased rapidly since <br /> 2017; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City has an emerald ash borer response plan to mitigate the impacts of this <br /> damaging pest that includes removal of boulevard ash trees and their replacement with a diverse <br /> mix of species; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering a 2021 Preparing for <br /> Emerald Ash Borer Grant for the removal and replacement of ash trees on public land; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Lino Lakes was awarded $32,910.86 to be used for removals of ash <br /> trees,planting replacement trees, and planting supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City match funds of$16,837.94 will be in the form of labor for removals, <br /> planting, watering,pruning, inspections, and in-house training; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes: <br /> That the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources 2021 Preparing for Emerald Ash Borer <br /> Grant is accepted, and hereby authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to execute the agreement on behalf <br /> of the City. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 13th day of December 2021. <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Councilmember <br /> Ruhland and was duly seconded by Councilmember Lyden and upon vote being taken thereon, <br /> the following voted in favor thereof.
