CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: March 7, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Building Inspector <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Joel McPherson to the vacant <br />Building Inspector position in the Community Development department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />At this time staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer <br />contingent upon a complete background check, and is recommending the approval of Joel <br />McPherson for the position. <br />McPherson has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College. McPherson has over 20 <br />years of building inspecting experience and has been the Building Inspector at the City of <br />Brooklyn Center since 2013. <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $39.73, which is step 6 of the current 6 step wage schedule. <br />With the Council's approval, McPherson would start in the position of Building Inspector on <br />March 28, 2022. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Joel McPherson for the Building Inspector position. <br />
