61 HOUSTON
engineering, inc.
Technical Memorandum
To: Rice Creek Watershed District Model User
From: Bret Zimmerman PE; Houston Engineering, Inc.
Through: Chris Otterness PE; Houston Engineering, Inc.
CC: Nick Tomczik; Rice Creek Watershed District Administrator
Subject: Rice Creek Watershed District — Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling Guidelines
Date: February 23, 2022
BACKGROUND
The Rice Creek Watershed District (District) currently maintains hydrologic and hydraulic models for the
watershed through the District Wide Modeling Program (DWMP). These models and products were originally
completed in 2011. The initial model development methodology was presented in a 2011 report titled Hydraulic
and Hydrologic Modeling Report Rice Creek'. The original 15 models developed in various modeling software
including InfoSWMM, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis (ASSA), and HEC-RAS.
The District maintains and updates the models through the DWMP on an annual basis. The main purpose of the
annual updates is to incorporate projects that have been implemented within the watershed. Several other
updates have been made to the models including software conversions, combining smaller models, methodology
updates to conform to industry standards. There are currently a total of 11 hydrologic and hydraulic models that
are maintained as part of the DWMP. Table 1 shows the current modeling software and software version for the
Rice Creek Models.
Table 1: RCWD Models and Modeling Software
ACID 10-22-32
ACID 31
ACID 46
ACD 15 JD 4
ACID 25
JD2 (HWC)
JD3 (CWC)
LRC (Merged)
RCD 2345
URC (Direct Drainage)
HEC-RAS
XPSWMM
AutoDesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis
AutoDesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis
AutoDesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis
InfoSWMM
XPSWMM
XPSWMM
XPSWMM
XPSWMM
InfoSWMM
HEC-RAS
2018.1
2020
2020
2020
13.0 Service Pack 1 Update #2
2018.1
2018.1
2018.1
2018.1
13.0 Service Pack 1 Update #2
5.0.6
' Hydraulic and Hydrologic Modeling Report— Rice Creek; Houston Engineering, Inc.; December 23, 2011
PAGE 1 OF 2
