CITY ,OF
LNLAKES
NOTICE REGARDING DISEASED TREES
Dear Homeowner,
In accordance with Chapter 902 of the Municipal Code and as granted by statutory law, the City
of Lino Lakes conducts a program of shade tree disease and pest control that focuses on Dutch
elm disease fungus, elm bark beetles, oak wilt fungus, emerald ash borer, and other potentially
non-native invasive pests and pathogens that affect trees. Chapter 902 also establishes abatement
procedures, deadlines, and other regulatory requirements associated with the program.
One or more tree(s) located on your property were recently inspected and marked as diseased or
pest infested by the Certified City tree inspector. This letter serves as written notice from the
City of Lino Lakes that requires corrective action by the property owner to remove the marked
tree(s).
Tree Details:
Property owners are responsible for removing diseased and/or pest infested tree(s) located on
private property. Vibratory plowing to sever root grafts may also be required if the city forester
deems it likely that the disease could leave your property and impact other trees in the area.
Please remove the marked tree(s) by February 1st, 2022. The City recommends removal of
infected oaks after November 1st. Please be advised that trees that have not been removed,
or felled and properly covered by February 1st 2022 may be removed by a contractor
working for the city. These contracted removals will be performed at the homeowner's
expense.
Homeowners may keep the wood provided that it is completely covered with plastic 4 mils or
greater in thickness and sealed to the ground to prevent beetles from accessing or vacating the
wood. Firewood must remain covered from March 31st of 2022 until October 1st of 2022.
Thank you for helping us to manage tree disease in Lino Lakes.
Respectfully,
Andy Nelson Office 651-982-2465
Environmental Coordinator, City of Lino Lakes ANelson3@linolakes.us
ISA Certified Arborist
