CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 411 <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br />MEETING DATE: April 11, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Hire Part-time Fire Duty Crew <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting council approval to hire part-time duty <br />crew firefighters. <br />BACKGROUND <br />As approved in the 2022 City of Lino Lakes budget approved by Council the Public Safety <br />Department is seeking to hire part-time duty crew personnel for daytime fire response. <br />The hiring process has been extensive including an interview process, background investigation, <br />medical and psychological examinations and drug screening. This process has identified <br />candidates that will continue the Public Safety Department's proud tradition of delivering high <br />quality services to the Lino Lakes Community. <br />All of the part-time firefighters have completed Firefighter 1 & 2 as well as Hazardous Materials <br />training and certification. The starting wage for all recommended hires will be $18.66 per hour <br />which is the current starting rate for part-time firefighters. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the hiring of part-time duty crew personnel listed below <br />effective May 2, 2022. <br />Jacob Bogdanovich Benjamin Opem <br />Brian Pevito Nicholas Potzmann <br />Andrew Smith Charles Jenkins, III <br />Kathleen McLaughlin <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
