Review Regular Agenda of March 28, 2022- <br />13 Item 4A - Accept Gift Cards — Deputy Director Leibel reviewed the written request. The <br />14 gift cards come to the Department and they like to utilize them in ways that benefit the <br />15 community and recognize good work. Sometimes people want to recognize or gift <br />16 individual officers and Director Leibel explained that they are given information about <br />17 the "pay it forward" program. <br />18 <br />19 Councilmember Lyden asked how the department shows gratitude for these donations. <br />20 <br />21 Administrator Cotton noted that Deputy Director Leibel was the person who created the <br />22 Pay It Forward program; she is thankful for that effort and for his leadership. Deputy <br />23 Director Leibel explained that he supports shedding light on the positive side of policing <br />24 and how much officers are really there because they want to serve and support the <br />25 community; he wants the department to be a better one from his service. <br />26 Item 4B - Accept Canine Equipment — Deputy Director Leibel explained that a group is <br />27 interested in donating certain items that relate to canine services. The group intends to <br />28 present them at their May meeting. <br />29 <br />30 Councilmember Ruhland asked if the council could get a demonstration (of the donated <br />31 items) and also invite members of the group who donated the equipment. Deputy <br />32 Director Leibel said absolutely — sometime in May would be appropriate. <br />33 2.
