Based on an appropriate hiring process, staff is <br /> 54 recommending appointment of Mr. Brandon Holmes. <br /> 55 Mayor Rafferty noted that building is ramping up for the summer season. <br /> 56 Councilmember Ruhland moved to approve the appointment of Brandon Holmes as recommended. <br /> 57 Councilmember Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br /> 58 PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT <br /> 59 4A) Consider 1st Reading of Ordinance No. 01-22,Enacting Ordinance Regulating <br /> 60 Possession of Catalytic Converters—Public Safety Director Swenson reviewed the written staff <br /> 61 report. This language is recommended for addition to the City Code based on the need to provide a <br /> 62 tool to curb theft of converter units, a theft practice that is growing in the metro area. The ordinance <br /> 63 was researched and developed and is similar to what has been adopted by other cities. <br /> 64 Mayor Rafferty asked if there is a problem in this city and Director Swenson said there has been an <br /> 65 uptick in thefts. <br /> 66 Councilmember Cavegn moved to approve the 15t Reading of Ordinance No. 01-22 as presented. <br /> 67 Councilmember Ruhland seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br /> 68 4B) Consider Converting Seized Property to City Property for City Use—Public Safety <br /> 69 Director Swenson noted that staff has prepared a list of items which they believe should be deemed <br /> 70 City property, based on the process required by state regulations. Staff would like to bring the items <br /> 71 into City use. <br /> 72 Councilmember Cavegn asked if there is additional property that will not be deemed for City use and <br /> 73 will be disposed of? Director Swenson explained the process for such items. <br /> 74 Councilmember Lyden moved to approve the conversion of listed property as recommended. <br /> 75 Councilmember Ruhlannd seconded the motion.
