4. Creates an organizational culture that places a high priority on wellness
throughout all ranks and positions.
5. Reduce the financial impact to the City of Lino Lakes for work related injuries
within the LLPSD.
The enhancements planned for the Public Safety Wellness program are:
• Partner with Provicta to assist staff with wellness training, assessments,
individualized programming, and development of on -going wellness.
• Conduct mandatory department wide training (employee family members are
welcome to attend) provided by Provicta on wellness topics to provide a general
foundation to improve overall wellness.
• All department staff will be required to continue to participated in the Check Up
From the Neck Up (CUFNU) program through LE -AST.
• All licensed police staff will be able to volunteer to participate in individualized
wellness programing through Provicta that will provide one-on-one professional
consultation on overall health, nutrition, and movement screening twice a year.
o Licensed police staff who volunteer to participate in the one-on-one
programing will be required to participate in fitness assessments twice a
year conducted by Provicta. Provicta will maintain all individual
employee data and only aggregate data will be provided to the employer to
monitor wellness programing effectiveness.
• Develop and train three staff members to serve as Department Wellness
Coordinators with the responsibility to sustain department wellness programing
after the initial two-year Provicta engagement.
The estimated cost for these enhancements over the two years is between $60,000 to
$70,000. The actual costs will depend on the number of licensed police staff that
volunteer for individualized component of the program. This estimate includes group
trainings on wellness topics, individualized assessments, and one-on-one consultation for
health overview, nutrition, and movement screening but does not include pricing for
assessments. It should be noted that not included in this estimate is the mental health
programming through the CUFNU program that is currently funded in the Police and Fire
Division budgets.
Staff proposes to fund the wellness enhancement primary through forfeiture funds with
the group training sessions funded with existing funds budgeted in the training lines of
the Police and Fire Division budgets. No additional general fund dollars are being
requested for this two-year program.
Please note that use of forfeiture dollars requires that these funds only be used for
licensed police staff. We continue to seek other funding options to fund the
individualized components of the wellness enhancements for fire staff and we anticipate
pursing grant funding in the fall of 2022.
The goals of the Wellness Enhancements are:
