Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc. <br />The chassis engine shall be a Cummins X15 engine. The X15 engine shall be an in -line six (6) cylinder, <br />four cycle diesel powered engine. The engine shall offer a rating of 565 horse power at 1800 RPM and <br />shall be governed at 2100 RPM. The torque rating shall feature 1850 foot pounds of torque at 1000 RPM <br />with 912 cubic inches (14.9 liter) of displacement. <br />The X15 engine shall feature a VGTTM Turbocharger, a high pressure common rail fuel system, fully <br />integrated electronic controls with an electronic governor, and shall be EPA certified to meet the 2021 <br />emissions standards using cooled exhaust gas recirculation and selective catalytic reduction technology. <br />The engine shall include an engine mounted combination full flow/by-pass oil filter with replaceable spin <br />on cartridge for use with the engine lubrication system. The engine shall include Citgo brand Citgard <br />500, or equivalent 15W40 CK-4 low ash engine oil which shall be utilized for proper engine lubrication. <br />A wiring harness shall be supplied ending at the back of the cab. The harness shall include a connector <br />which shall allow an optional harness for the pump panel. The included circuits shall be provided for a <br />tachometer, oil pressure, engine temperature, hand throttle, high idle and a PSG system. A circuit for <br />J1939 data link shall also be provided at the back of the cab. <br />CAB ENGINE TUNNEL <br />The cab interior shall include an integrated engine tunnel constructed of 5052-H32 Marine Grade 0.19 of <br />an inch thick aluminum alloy plate. The tunnel shall be a maximum of 46.50 inches wide X 29.00 inches <br />high. <br />DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER CONTROLS <br />There shall be two (2) controls for the diesel particulate filter. One (1) control shall be for regeneration <br />and one (1) control shall be for regeneration inhibit. The controls shall be located on the digital dash <br />display. <br />ENGINE PROGRAMMING HIGH IDLE SPEED <br />The engine high idle control shall maintain the engine idle at approximately 1250 RPM when engaged. <br />ENGINE HIGH IDLE CONTROL <br />The vehicle shall be equipped with a virtual Vista button and an automatic high -idle speed control. It <br />shall be pre-set so when activated, it will operate the engine at the appropriate RPM to increase alternator <br />output. This device shall operate only when the engine is running and the transmission is in neutral with <br />the parking brake set. The device shall disengage when the operator depresses the brake pedal, or the <br />transmission is placed in gear, and shall be available to manually or automatically re-engage when the <br />brake is released, or when the transmission is placed in neutral. There shall be an indicator on the Vista <br />display and control screen for the high idle speed control. <br />ENGINE PROGRAMMING ROAD SPEED GOVERNOR <br />The engine shall include programming which will govern the top speed of the vehicle. <br />AUXILIARY ENGINE BRAKE <br />A compression brake, for the six (6) cylinder engine shall be provided. A cutout relay shall be installed to <br />disable the compression brake when in pump mode or when an ABS event occurs. The engine <br />07/26/22 <br />-15- <br />
