CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1F <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues, Deputy City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: August 8, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 22-83, Special Event for the Blue Heron <br />Days Parade and Festival <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />City staff has submitted an application for a permit to conduct a parade on Saturday, August 20 <br />from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. <br />City staff has been working on the event details and have provided the following information. <br />There are approximately 35-45 units in the parade at this time; the proposed route for the <br />parade would be Lake Drive from Marketplace Drive to James Street, with a staging area in the <br />Kohl's parking lot. <br />Anoka County has authorized the road closure for this event. <br />The event coordinators have received approval from Kohl's for use of their property for the <br />parade staging area. <br />There will also be Festival Activities at the Community Green from 12:00 pm — 4:00 pm such <br />as Touch a Truck, Lawn & Yard Games, bounce houses and face painting <br />The Rookery Activity Center in planning many activities such as open swim and parent's night <br />out, child care drop off. <br />Food trucks will be on -site at the Community Green. Food trucks are required to contact <br />Anoka County Environmental Services for permission to operate in the City as well as be <br />licensed by the State of Minnesota. <br />The Public Works Department and the Public Safety Department have reviewed the permit <br />application. The applicant must continue to follow instructions on safety and signage measures <br />up to and through the time of the parade. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Request City Council Approval of the Blue Heron Days Parade and Festival <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Map of Parade Route <br />Traffic Control Map <br />Community Green Set -Up <br />
