CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 22-84 <br /> RESOLUTION OFFERING SUPPORT TO ANOKA COUNTY TO EXPAND <br /> BROADBAND SERVICES IN THE CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> WHEREAS, broadband or high-speed internet service is increasingly essential to serve residents <br /> and businesses and provide for economic development, affordable and quality health care, <br /> equitable educational opportunities, and effective government; and <br /> WHEREAS,the County has identified areas in the City of Lino Lakes without access to <br /> affordable and reliable broadband service that meets or exceeds the federal broadband standard <br /> of 100/20 Mbp; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council understands the need to improve the state of broadband service <br /> within the City's jurisdictional boundaries; and <br /> WHEREAS, full broadband service provides significant benefits to residents and businesses in <br /> the community, including enhancing access to services, government programs, schools, lifelong <br /> learning and social services; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City intends to collaborate with Anoka County to maximize the opportunity to <br /> extend and expand service using federal, state, and local broadband funding programs in <br /> Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Lino Lakes supports the efforts of Anoka County to define and <br /> determine the most feasible source of technology that will qualify for appropriate funding that <br /> will provide for the required infrastructure in areas of Lino Lakes that lack access to affordable <br /> and reliable broadband service. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes hereby <br /> approves this resolution seeking collaboration with Anoka County as follows: <br /> 1) To provide support in the County's direction to seek State and/or Federal funding sources <br /> to improve broadband connectivity in the City of Lino Lakes. <br /> 2) To provide support related to the County's determination of the connectivity technology <br /> that will allow for State and/or Federal funding sources. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 8th day of August 2022. <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Councilmember <br /> Lyden and was duly seconded by Councilmember Stoesz and upon vote being taken thereon,the <br /> following voted in favor thereof: Lyden, Stoesz, Cavegn,Rafferty <br /> r� <br /> The following voted against same: None (Absent - Ruhland) <br />
