§ 1007.045 OFF-STREET LOADING SPACES. <br />(1) Purpose. The purpose of this section is to establish the minimum requirements for off- <br />street loading spaces in order to alleviate or prevent congestion of the public right-of-way related <br />to the loading and unloading of motor vehicles. <br />(2) Location. Off-street loading spaces are subject to the following conditions: <br />(a) Loading spaces shall be off-street. <br />(b) Loading spaces shall be located on the same lot as the building or use being served. <br />(c) Loading spaces shall be at least 50 feet from a residential district. <br />(d) Loading spaces may be located in the front yard if the lot has more than one (1) <br />frontage on a public right-of-way. <br />1. The loading space shall be located on the frontage that has the least significant <br />impact as determined by the Zoning Administrator. <br />2. Additional landscaping and earth berming shall be required to reduce the visual <br />impact of the loading space as determined by the Zoning Administrator. <br />(3) Size. Loading spaces shall be of a size determined by the City as necessary to <br />accommodate anticipated truck and service vehicles. <br />(4) Access. Loading spaces shall be located with appropriate means of vehicular access to <br />a street or public alley in a manner which will least interfere with traffic and allow on -site <br />maneuvenng. <br />(5) Surfacing. Loading spaces and access ways shall be surfaced with a bituminous, <br />concrete or other material approved by the City Engineer. <br />(6) Accessory Use. Any space allocated as a loading space or maneuvering areas shall not <br />be used for the storage of goods, inoperable vehicles or to be included as a part of the space <br />requirements necessary to meet the off-street parking requirements. <br />(7) Off -Street Loading Space Required. In connection with any structure which is to be <br />constructed or substantially altered, any which requires the receipt or distribution of materials or <br />merchandise by trucks or similar vehicles, there shall be provided off-street loading space. <br />(8) Noise. Where noise from loading or unloading activity is determined to be an audible <br />nuisance in a residential district per City Code Section 1007.043(10), the City Council may limit <br />the hours of operation. <br />136 <br />
