<br />2 <br /> <br />• Contractor cleared out underbrush, buckthorn, and several dead trees. Ash and cottonwood <br />trees were also removed. <br />• Park area was graded and native grasses were planted along the south side of the park that will <br />be 2-3’ in height. <br />• Concrete curbing for the playground area has been installed. The playground equipment is <br />scheduled to be installed the week of October 3 by Parks Department employees and a <br />certified playground installer. <br />• The footings for the open-air shelter are scheduled to be installed the week of October 3, with <br />the shelter being installed by the end of October. <br />• The base of the ½ court basketball court has been installed. Anticipate paving and painting the <br />court in the Spring. <br />• Adjacent homeowners expressed that they were not in favor of a split rail fence getting <br />installed along the southern park boundary. Rather, we will be designing a landscape plan that <br />will provide additional buffering. We plan on ordering the plant material this Winter with <br />parks department staff planting in the Spring, 2023. <br />• The existing paved trail has been removed, and a new base has been installed. We are <br />expecting that the trails will be paved yet this Fall, but we need to wait until the playground <br />equipment and park shelter are installed. <br /> <br />Mr. Gooder asked if the basketball court is going on the back side of the park and is there <br />anything preventing the basketball from going into the wooded area? DeGardner stated yes, <br />there is thick vegetation of 12-15 feet plus bushes for separation. We will also be considering <br />a cyclone fence if necessary. <br /> <br />B. Parks Projects Submitted for 2023 Budget <br />The following parks and trails projects were submitted to the City Council for consideration in <br />the 2023 General Operating Budget: <br />• Materials for Parks Department to repair approximately 200 feet of boardwalk in Foxborough <br />- $15,000 <br />• Remove and replace Rice Lake Elementary Basketball Court - $40,000 <br />• Chip seal Sunrise Park Parking Lots - $54,000 <br />• Patch and paint NorthPointe Pickleball Court - $7,000 <br />• Repair Country Lakes Lane Trail - $75,000 <br /> <br />Mr. Huelman gave a recap of the Park Board proposed budget to the City Council; replace <br />Lino Lakes Park Shelter, Brandywood Park playground equipment, and Birchwood Acres <br />Park playground equipment. Also on the radar is Shenandoah Park equipment, pedestrian <br />access to Tower Park, and using outdoor hockey rinks for summer use.
