<br />WS – Item 6 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 6 <br /> <br /> <br />Date: April 3, 2023 <br /> <br />To: City Council <br /> <br />From: Justin Williams, Public Works Superintendent <br /> <br />Re: 2023 Public Works Truck Purchase <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The adopted 2022 budget included $65,000 to purchase a Ford F-350 w/dump box for the <br />Parks Department maintenance position that was created. Unfortunately, Ford F-350 <br />truck costs had increased 43% between 2021 and 2022. Due to the significant cost <br />increase, staff has decided to forego the purchase of the new vehicle mentioned above for <br />the foreseeable future. <br /> <br />The adopted 2023 budget includes $87,000 to replace Unit #214 (2008 1-Ton). Vehicle <br />costs in 2023 continue to increase. Actual total costs including the chassis, dump box, <br />plow, and accessories amount to $94,958. Staff recommends designating $7,958 of the <br />unspent aforementioned 2022 funds to cover the gap. The remaining $57,042 would <br />remain as unspent in the Capital Equipment Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Council Approval <br /> <br />Approve purchase.
