CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 23-33 <br /> RESOLUTION LOWERING THE SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMIT ON ELM STREET <br /> WHEREAS,the existing speed limit on Elm Street is 35 miles per hour(mph); and <br /> WHEREAS,Elm Street has an existing school zone speed limit set between Lake Drive and <br /> Snow Owl Lane of 30 mph; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City was contacted by representatives of the Independent School District 12 to <br /> discuss traffic safety associated with access to Centennial Middle School and Blue Heron <br /> Elementary School which included the school zone speed limit; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City has the authority to reduce the speed limit based on Minnesota Statute, <br /> Section 169.14,SubiL 5a-Speed Zoning in School Zone, and based on the Minnesota <br /> Department of Transportation(MnDOT) Guide to Establishing Speed Limits in School Zones; and <br /> WHEREAS,the school zone speed limit signs shall conform to the Minnesota Manual of <br /> Uniform Traffic Control Devices; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City based on engineering review and in coordination with Independent School <br /> District 12 fords it in the best interest to lower the school zone speed limit from 30 mph to 20 mph. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes <br /> hereby establishes the Elm Street school zone speed limit at 20 mph from Lake Drive to Snow <br /> Owl Lane. <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 10t day of April, 2023. <br /> The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member <br /> ,Vtl&A d and was duly seconded by Council Member Gc;r4.,ut�V‘ and upon <br /> vote being taken thereon,the following voted in favor thereof: Pf G ,ticoV1 <br /> 1.-►lpl-Gvt, R-vkA//I AM.41-r 4+1'6 SZ.
