Current Backyard Chicken ordinances 5/5/2023 <br />Prepared by PZ Board Member Isaac Wipperfurth and presented at May 10, 2023 PZ <br />meeting <br /> <br />Hugo - only allowed on agricultural, long-term agricultural, future urban service, and rural residential <br />zoning districts <br /> <br />Wyoming - allowed in agricultural, or on properties 1 acre or larger <br /> <br />Blaine - Allowed in residential estate, R-1, R-1AA, R-1A, R-1B (those are all single family zones) <br />• 6 hens allowed, no roosters. <br />• Permit required <br />• Must comply with 11 conditions covering registration with the city, # of chickens, coop <br />size, location of coop etc. <br /> <br />Shoreview - Allowed in residential estate and R-1. <br />• 2 acres or less: 4 hens <br />• More than 2 acres: conditional use to have more than 4 hens, may be permitted to have <br />roosters <br />• Permit required <br />• Must comply with 7 conditions covering # of chickens, coop size, location of coop etc. <br /> <br />White Bear Lake - 4 hens allowed, no roosters <br />• Permit required <br />• Must comply with 14 conditions covering # of chickens, coop size, location of coop etc. <br /> <br />Circle Pines - 4 hens allowed, no roosters <br />• Permit required <br />• Must comply with 13 conditions <br />• Must submit site plan along with application. <br /> <br />Centerville - 4 hens allowed, no roosters <br />• Permit required <br />• Must have a minimum of 10,000 sf lot <br /> <br />White Bear Township - 4 hens allowed, no roosters <br /> <br />Minneapolis - Up to 30 hens depending on permit fee amount <br />• Permit required <br />• Must take an approved fowl education course. <br />• Must get approval from neighbors. <br />• Must get approval from zoning <br />• Inspection from animal control officer <br /> <br />St. Paul - Up to 15 hens depending on permit fee amount and requirements to meet <br />• Permit required. <br />• Must notify adjacent neighbors for up to 6 hens, get approval from 75% of neighbors for <br />7-15 hens. <br />• Must submit site plan along with application. <br />• Inspected by animal control officers yearly.
