The <br />Basic Use Area should include 20 feet outside of the fence on the east building perimeter <br />as well. This reduces the total number of mitigation trees required to 34. <br /> <br />Of the 10 trees that are categorized as “Saved”, 8 are invasive species (Siberian elm) and <br />2 are not on the current project site. These trees will not provide existing tree credit. <br /> <br />32 trees planted in open space around buildings and ponds will also qualify as mitigation <br />trees. There an additional 2 mitigation trees required to meet the standard. <br /> <br />Tree preservation and mitigation standards have not been met. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Open Areas Landscape Standards <br /> <br />The purpose of these standards is to provide general site beautification and high aesthetic <br />quality with a mix of plant materials in open areas. Open area landscape standards call <br />for 1 large tree and 2 large shrubs per 2500 sf. <br /> <br />Required for 40,000 square feet of open space: 16 large trees <br /> 32 large shrubs <br /> <br />Provided: 33 large trees <br />56 large shrubs <br /> <br />Existing trees provide 12 large trees of credit. New conifers along the south, east, and <br />north perimeters provide 19 large trees of credit. <br /> <br />26 Cardinal dogwood shrubs along the east perimeter provide 26 large shrubs of credit. <br />One large tree can be substituted for every two large shrubs.
