CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1F <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jolleen Chaika, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: July 24, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Consider Approval of Resolution 23-71, Authorizing a <br />Special Event Permit and Temporary On-Sale Liquor <br />License for the American Legion <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) <br />INTRODUCTION: <br />The American Legion Post 566 has applied for a Special Event Permit Temporary On- <br />Sale Liquor License for the annual Blue Heron Days Community Family Picnic which <br />will be held on August 18-29, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM both days. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The applicant is proposing to have food and alcoholic beverages for purchase, a band, <br />activities presented by the Boy Scouts, and outdoor games. Legion members will be <br />verifying ID’s and will provide security for the event. Wrist bands will be provided to <br />patrons who are eligible to purchase alcoholic beverages. <br />The application has been reviewed by staff, including the Public Safety Department. The <br />applicant has been provided with a list of conditions which are also incorporated into the <br />attached resolution. <br />A Certificate of Insurance has been submitted by the American Legion to the City for <br />this event. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve Resolution No. 23-71 authorizing issuance of Special Event Permit and <br />Temporary On-Sale Liquor License for the American Legion Post 566. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Resolution 23-71
