CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1E <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jolleen Chaika, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: August 14, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Consider Approval of Resolution 23-81: Special Event Permit for the <br />Quad Area Chamber of Commerce <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) <br />INTRODUCTION: <br />The Quad Area Chamber of Commerce has applied for a Special Event Permit the Community Food <br />Truck Festival and Car Show which will be held on August 17, 2023 at the Centennial Middle <br />School. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The applicant is proposing to host an event at the Centennial Middle School on August 17, 2023 that <br />will consist of family friendly events, food trucks, a car show, and a singing competition hosted by <br />Minnesota Sings. <br />The application has been reviewed by staff, including the Public Safety Department, for compliance <br />with city ordinances and for safety considerations. Conditions to ensure a safe and successful event <br />for the applicant are as follows: <br />- Food trucks must maintain a clearance of 10 feet from buildings, combustible materials, and <br />other food trucks. <br />-The fire department must have vehicular access, fire lanes, and access roads clear of <br />obstructions to food trucks. <br />- Class K fire extinguishers must be present for cooking fires in each food truck. <br />- Minimum of one 2A10BC extinguisher present in each food truck for ordinary food fires. <br />- Engine Driven Power Sources must be clear of any air intake by 12 feet on the food truck. <br />- Engine Driven Power Sources must be 12 feet from any egress. <br />- Each food truck must be registered with Anoka County. <br />A Certificate of Insurance has been submitted by to the City for this event. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve Resolution No. 23-81 authorizing issuance of Special Event Permit for the Quad Area <br />Chamber of Commerce. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Resolution 23-81
