<br /> <br />LINO LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br />WORK SESSION <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />DATE: August 28, 2023 <br />TIME STARTED: 6:00 PM <br />TIME ENDED: 6:28 PM <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilmembers Stoesz, Lyden, Ruhland, Cavegn, Mayor <br />Rafferty <br /> <br />Staff members present: Community Development Director Michael Grochala; City Planner <br />Katie Larsen, City Engineer Diane Hankee; Public Safety Director John Swenson; Public Safety <br />Deputy Director Dan L’Allier; City Clerk Jolleen Chaika. <br /> <br />1. School Resource Contract <br />Public Safety Director John Swenson thanked Council for allowing the addition of this <br />last-minute item to both the work session and the meeting agendas. He informed <br />Council that there are rapid changes to School Resource Officer (SRO) programs <br />statewide due to recent law changes at the state level. As such, Lino Lakes Public Safety <br />is seeking authorization to suspend or terminate the contract with Centennial School <br />District for SCRO services as the new law changes the ability of SRO’s to work safely in <br />the schools. He added that school safety will remain a priority of Public Safety. He will <br />be requesting Council approval to authorize staff the ability to suspend or terminate the <br />contract. <br /> <br />2. Review Regular Agenda <br />Mayor Rafferty reviewed the agenda for the Regular Meeting. Staff provided brief <br />comments highlighting information contained within staff reports. <br /> <br /> <br />The Council Work Session ended at 6:28 PM. <br /> <br /> <br />These minutes were considered and approved at the regular Council Meeting on September 11, <br />2023. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Jolleen Chaika, City Clerk Rob Rafferty, Mayor <br /> <br />
