GATEWAY PLANNING
PAGE 3
INTRODUCTION WHAT ARE GATEWAYS?
Through a collaborative effort between the City of
Lino Lakes and Landscape Architects at WSB, a
comprehensive gateway manual has been created
for key intersections throughout the City. This manual
serves as a toolkit for the continues development
of intersections and entry points as they redevelop.
This Gateway Planning manual provides guidance
to Lino Lakes city staff and outside consultants who
are involve din specifying, fabricating, and installing
gateway signage or related landscape elements.
It is designed to guide the design of gateways and
to assure that gateways are implemented correctly
and consistently throughout the community.
This manual is a City planning document intented
to support internal discussions and maintain
gateway design consistency. It is important that
staff members become familiar with this context,
refer to it when planning future gateways, and
support its use by others. The City of Lino
Lakes is responsible for overseeing ongoing
implementation and adherence to the guidelines.
Gateways are entries into a designated space, in this case the City of Lino Lakes. The
gateway is meant to serve as a welcoming feature that notifies residents and guests
that they have entered into city limits. Gateways help in creating a sense of identity for
the city, creating a sense of place, and provide general wayfinding and orientation.
PRIMARY
GATEWAY
Main entrance along
major corridors from
adjacent communities
or key Interstate
Highway exits into Lino
Lakes
SECONDARY
GATEWAY
Entrance into
Lino Lakes
along corridors
from adjacent
communities
PRIMARY
COMMUNITY
INTERSECTION
Key intersection
between heavily
trafficked corridors
within Lino Lakes
city limits.
