1 <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: October 9, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Compensation Plan for Paid On-Call Fire Personnel <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to consider Resolution No. 23-108, Amending the Compensation Plan <br />for Paid On-Call Fire Personnel. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In an effort to continue to recruit and retain Paid On-Call Fire personnel, staff recently conducted a <br />market study of the hourly rates of pay for Paid On-Call Fire personnel in the metro area and <br />throughout the state. The study found that on average, Paid On-Call Firefighters were paid a starting <br />wage of $16.04 per hour.
