<br />The Park Board discussed the 19 different name suggestions that were submitted for <br />Centerville/Birch Park and the 8 different name suggestions for City Hall park. They had shown <br />some interest in park names such as “Firefighters Memorial Park”, “Hero Park”, ‘First <br />Responder Park” however it was mentioned that naming the park with a name <br />like those may imply or push for a memorial statue in the park area which there are currently no <br />plans for. The area will just have the hard surface courts as of right now and will most likely just <br />continue to be a park in the future. <br /> <br />After lengthy discussion the Park Board decided to move forward with the following names for <br />the survey: <br /> <br />Centerville Road & Birch Street Park (1750 Birch Street) <br />• Tower Park <br />• Blue Heron Park <br />• Water Tower Park <br /> <br />City Hall Park (1189 Main Street) <br />• Old City Hall Park <br />• Main Street Park <br /> <br />7. PARKS UPDATES <br /> <br />A. Tennis & Pickle Ball Courts Update <br />Rick DeGardner, Director of Public Services, informed the Park Board that erosion <br />control measures are in place and general earthwork and storm water ponds <br />development have started at the Birch/Centerville tennis and pickle ball courts <br />location. He stated that the aggregate sub-base of the courts has been placed with <br />sampling/testing being conducted with sub-cutting of the parking and trail areas and <br />storm sewer installation scheduled for next week. He detailed that the project had <br />encountered some significant delays to manufacture lead times involving the fence <br />fabric. The revised completion date for the project is September 30, 2021. <br /> <br />B. Lino Park Renovations <br />Rick DeGardner, Director of Public Services, informed the Park Board that the large <br />playground structure, swings, independent play events, concrete edging, bike rack <br />pad, and engineered wood fiber and bottle filling station have all been installed at <br />Lino Park. He identified that the Parks Department is still waiting on delivery of the <br />2-5 play structure and that the ornamental fencing material is projected to arrive mid- <br />August. He detailed that additional concrete work is scheduled for the week of <br />September 1st with benches and tables expected to be delivered mid-October. <br /> <br />C. Clearwater Creek Playground Replacement <br />Rick DeGardner, Director of Public Services informed the Park Board that the plan is <br />still to remove and replace the Clearwater Creek playground area this Fall. <br />DeGardner added that the City had made arrangements with a local contractor to
