1 <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 2D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Hannah Lynch, Finance Director <br />MEETING DATE: December 11, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Committing General Fund Balance <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />BACKGROUND <br />The 2023 General Fund Budget includes $25,667 within Fire Uniforms for 5 sets of fire turn out <br />protective gear. An order for the turn out gear was placed on October 4, 2023, although staff <br />has been informed by the vendor MacQueen Equipment that delivery will not be made until <br />mid to late January 2024. <br />Staff recommends committing the funds within the General Fund. Committed funds will allow <br />the use of the 2023 budgeted funds in fiscal year 2023 without having a 2024 budget impact. <br />Funds can only be spent for the reason specified. Any unspent funds will no longer be <br />committed after the expenditure for turn out gear has been made. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approving Resolution No. 23-134, Committing General Fund Balance. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution No. 23-134 <br />363
