<br />WS – Item 11 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 11 <br /> <br /> <br />Date: March 5, 2018 <br /> <br />To: City Council <br /> <br />From: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br /> <br />Re: Nature’s Refuge Park Dedication, Rick DeGardner <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br />The Nature’s Refuge development application was reviewed by the Park Board at the <br />February 5, 2018 Park Board meeting. The Arena Acres letter (see attached) was sent to <br />area residents on February 8 (and was included in the February 9 Weekly Update). <br />Councilmember Rafferty had expressed concerns regarding the portion of the letter <br />pertaining to discussions with the Forest Lake School District related to enhancing leisure <br />opportunities at Lino Lakes Elementary. Staff was directed to place this item on the <br />March work session agenda. <br /> <br />The Park Board recommended working with the Forest Lake School District to provide <br />leisure opportunities at Lino Lakes Elementary School (see attached). <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Board reviewed Nature’s Refuge on February 14 and continued <br />the Public Hearing and discussion to their March 14 meeting. Staff will present the <br />Planning and Zoning Board’s recommendation to the City Council at the April 2nd work <br />session (tentative schedule). <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Council Direction <br />Staff is requesting Council direction whether to pursue a possible joint park improvement <br />project with the Forest Lake School District at Lino Lakes Elementary. <br /> <br /> <br />Attachments <br />Memo to Arena Acres Residents, February 8, 2018 <br />Nature’s Refuge – Park Board Discussion memo dated February 6, 2018 <br /> <br /> <br />
