Mayor Reinert asked if there is flexibility to 90 <br />change the use as needs change; the representative said yes. The representatives 91 <br />reviewed site plan basics (i.e. preservation of site assets, connectivity). 92 <br /> 93 <br />Mayor Reinert remarked that buffering from the neighborhood should be a part of any 94 <br />development discussion. The representatives said design would take that into 95 <br />consideration. 96 <br /> 97 <br />When asked where this organization fits in on a scale for the type of services offered, they 98 <br />said about midway for services in the area. 99 <br /> 100 <br />An architectural representatives reviewed the preliminary design concepts for the project 101 <br />(on file). 102 <br /> 103 <br />Director Grochala remarked that this project could be a major driver for other 104 <br />development in the area. He noted that the Economic Development Advisory Committee 105 <br />reviewed the concept and offered enthusiastic support. The additional slides in the 106 <br />presentation will be forwarded to the council. Staff with work with the appropriate 107 <br />governmental agencies going ahead. 108 <br /> 109 <br />Council Member Maher asked that quality outdoor space such as a garden area would be 110 <br />desirable. 111 <br /> 112 <br />Mayor Reinert offered his support for the concept; the council concurred. 113 <br />3. Environmental Board Goals – Environmental Coordinator Asleson and Board 114 <br />Member Steven Heiskary reported. The council had asked for a report back on the goals. 115 <br />Mr. Heiskary explained that the board did trim down the goals from what was previously 116 <br />presented. He reviewed the list, highlighting for each goal how the Board is engaging or 117 <br />plans to engage on the activity. On the matter of community gardens, Mayor Reinert 118 <br />recalled previous discussions about expanding gardening activities to other areas of the 119 <br />city, including new developments. 120 <br /> 121 <br />Council Member Maher noted that she’s seen a lot of eagles this spring and she wonders 122 <br />if they could impact the heron rookery. Environmental Coordinator Asleson said the 123 <br />eagles are here to eat the fish that are easily available in the spring; they shouldn’t be a 124 <br />problem with the herons. 125 <br /> 126 <br />Council Member Manthey remarked that the Board’s presence at City functions such as 127 <br />the corn feed where they spread the message of the Environmental Board is much 128 <br />appreciated. 129 <br /> 130
