WS – Item 2
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
Work Session Item No. 2

Date: October 1, 2018

To: City Council

From: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director

Re: Residents Request for 12th Avenue Trail

Background
Mrs. Ashley Swenson and some area residents addressed the Park Board last month
regarding accessibility issues for residents in the Trappers Crossing development. The
primary concern expressed was the lack of the pedestrian trail connection along 12th
Avenue. This creates an unsafe situation and hinders pedestrian access to Brandywood
Park.

Completion of the 12th Avenue trail is identified within the Comprehensive Parks and
Trails System Capital Improvement Plan. The Park Board considered this particular
project while developing their 2018 Parks and Trails Capital Projects recommendation,
but was not included in their final recommendation presented to the City Council at the
May 7, 2018 work session.

Mrs. Swenson has requested the opportunity to address the City Council regarding the
12th Avenue Trail.

Attachments
Parks and Trails Map – Trappers Crossing Area
Ashley Swenson Letter
