CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 1F <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Roberta Colotti, CMC, City Clerk <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: June 24, 2024 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 24-89, Appointing Election Judges for the 2024 <br />State Primary and General Election <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The State Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 and the General Election <br />will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 204B.20, election judges shall be appointed to serve in an election <br />precinct and the appointing authority shall designate a judge serve as the head election judge. <br />Minn. Stat. §204B.021, Subd. 2, requires that appointments be made at least 25 days before the <br />election at which the judges will serve and that additional appointments may be made after the <br />25-day mark should the need arise. <br /> <br />The list of election judge candidates is presented within the attached Resolution No. 24-86. It is <br />also requested that the City Clerk be authorized to appoint additional certified and qualified <br />election judges within 25 days of the election, as needed. <br /> <br />It is anticipated that a second request for additional appointments will be presented to the City <br />Council, following the Primary Election and prior to the General Election, as we continue to <br />recruit election judges for the General Election. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Consider Resolution No. 24-89, Appointing Election Judges for the 2024 State Primary and <br />General Election <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution No. 24-89 <br />53 of 99
