CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 1G <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Roberta Colotti, CMC, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: June 24, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 24-90 Establishing an Absentee Ballot Board for <br />the 2024 State Primary and General Election <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The State Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 and the General Election <br />will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Absentee voting begins 46 days prior to each <br />election. Anoka County will be processing mail in ballots and the City of Lino Lakes will be <br />processing in-person absentee ballots. <br />BACKGROUND <br />It is required by Minnesota Statutes 203B.121, Subd. 1 that the City establish an Absentee <br />Ballot Board in order to process absentee ballots for the State Primary Election and General <br />Election. This board will bring uniformity in the processing of accepting or rejecting returned <br />absentee ballots. The absentee ballot board will be made up of election judges and staff as <br />permitted by State Statute and scheduled by the City Clerk. The meetings of the absentee ballot <br />board will take place within the times and dates posted at City Hall. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Consider Resolution No. 24-90 Establishing an Absentee Ballot Board for the 2024 State Primary <br />and General Election. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution No. 24-90 <br />58 of 99
