CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 4A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Dan L'Allier, Deputy Director — Fire Division <br />MEETING DATE: August 12, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Paid On -Call Fire Lieutenant Promotion <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Vincent Kasprowicz for the Paid <br />On -Call Fire Lieutenant position at Fire Station #1. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Previous Fire Lieutenant, Brian Gustafson, was promoted to Paid On -Call District Chief, creating <br />a vacancy. Staff has completed an internal recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, <br />and is recommending the approval of Vincent Kasprowicz for the Paid On -Call Fire Lieutenant <br />position. <br />Kasprowicz has over ten years of experience. He started as a Paid On -Call Firefighter in 2013 <br />with the Centennial Fire District. He has served the Lino Lakes' Public Safety Fire team since <br />August 2019 as a Firefighter/EMT. <br />The hourly rate of pay would remain the same for Kasprowicz. However, he would now receive <br />a monthly stipend of $225 as a Fire Lieutenant. With the Council's approval, Kasprowicz would <br />start in the position of Paid On -Call Fire Lieutenant on August 15, 2024. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the appointment of Vincent Kasprowicz for the Paid On -Call Fire Lieutenant position at <br />Fire Station #1. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
