I jr, '' 1111 1 <br />WHEREAS, policing agencies throughout the State of Minnesota are experiencing a low <br />number of applicants for vacant police officer positions; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety established grant funding to assist <br />Minnesota agencies expand the applicant pool to fill vacant police officer positions: and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department has police officer vacancies to fill; <br />WHEREAS, in an effort to expand the police officer applicant pool the Lino Lakes Public <br />Safety Department applied for and was awarded grant funding under the 2024 Intensive <br />Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training Grant; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of Lino Lakes, Minnesota has approved Resolution 24-26 <br />accepting the 2024 Intensive Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training grant on April <br />81? 2024; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety has additional 2024 Intensive <br />Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training grant additional grant funds available to <br />support the grant program; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department has identified multiple candidates <br />that meet the grant requirements, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lino Lakes, Minnesota that the <br />Lino Lakes Public Safety Department be authorized to enter into a grant agreement amendment <br />with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for the 2024 Intensive Comprehensive Peace <br />Officer Education and Training during the period from May 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Safety Director of the Lino Lakes Public Safety <br />Department is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to <br />implement the project on behalf of the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department and to be the fiscal agent and <br />administer the grant. <br />
