CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 1C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Roberta Colotti, CIVIC, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: October 28, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Approval of Exempt Gambling for ARCHES <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement division issues <br />Exempt Permits to nonprofit organizations that conduct lawful gambling on five or few days <br />and awards less than $50,000 in prizes during a calendar year. This is not a regular gambling <br />permit which requires a City Council resolution. Instead, the City is asked to acknowledge the <br />permit with either; no waiting period, require a 30-day waiting period or deny the application. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City is in receipt of the following application: <br />• Aquinas Roman Catholic Home Education Services (ARCHES), exempt gambling permit <br />for November 23, 2024 at St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Motion to acknowledge and approve the application for Exempt and Excluded Gambling Permit <br />for ARCHES as presented, with no waiting period. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
